Media

As with all disasters, the media is not far behind. Beware that you may be faced with the onslaught of reporters, cameras and microphones at a time when lease appropriate. Therefore, all inquiries for updates, interviews, etc. must be referred to the appropriate management representative. A reply such as “No comment” should not be made. A more appropriate response is “We are currently evaluating the situation and will provide you with a statement in (specify a time).” Depending on the magnitude of the disaster, Transwestern may designate a company spokesperson to handle the media.

Remember, do not become defensive or lose your composure
