Candle Burning

Burning candles in the Naperville Corporate Center is not permitted. In accordance with the City of Naperville and the 2000 International Fire Code, open flames such as candles, lanterns, kerosene heaters, and gas-fired heaters shall not be located on or near combustible materials. Naturally, the buildings are full of combustible materials such as carpeting, furniture, etc.

In addition, certain fumes emitted from burning candles may set off smoke detectors. Should a smoke detector sound due to candle fumes, the City of Naperville considers that a “false alarm”, which results in a fine from the City. Should that occur, the tenant responsible for the false alarm would incur the false alarm fine.
